Great post. I felt like I went to heaven when I found this site. I had not gotten into downloading digital music yet, and was still holding onto cassettes. This site made me figure it all out, learning about the compression files and what to do with them, the media players, all the digital audio stuff. It was a learning curve I didn't want to get into before, but with all this material!!!!

I just couldn't believe that every show I downloaded was the best sounding show I had ever heard. Somehow I knew it wasn't going to be around forever, and I downloaded everything in sight for months. Then, as the CD's piled up, I started to get complacent over the fact that the shows were always there. Like alot of people, I started telling myself "slow down, you don't need to download them all, they will always be there." This was like my own personal repository of everything Dead.

Then that fatal Thanksgiving holiday when it all ended. I was crushed for months. I still am, but oh well.

My first downloaded show was something that I went to, but I can't remember. But I do know it rocked my world, and things haven't been the same since.

To put it in another perspective, this site moved me to donate all of my cassette tapes, even after the downloads stopped. No other website has changed how I do things. I don't think....
